We have a selection of potty trained Golden Retriever and Mini Dachshund puppies here on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland
Are you in search of a new furry companion but worried about the hassle of potty training?
Our Golden Retriever and Mini Dachshund puppies are not only adorable but also have their potty trained well underway, making the transition to your home easier, less messy and less stressful
Read on to learn more about our Golden Retriever and Miniature Dachshund puppies which are available and the benefits of bringing home on of our potty trained puppies
Dogs have a natural instinct to potty away from their nest
This is first evident from the time they are first able to stagger around on their little legs at about 2 to 3 weeks of age
We set up our puppies for success with potty training from this early age by providing them a potty area away from their mum and siblings
This is away from their bedding and whelping box in which they were born, we use a small area of artificial turf overlaid with puppy mats
Over the next first few weeks and as they get a little older and start eating solid foods, we provide them with more space and an artificial turf toilet area away from where they eat, sleep and drink
By the time the puppies are around 6 weeks old they are reliably toileting in this area, which is then an easy transition to go outside, they often prefer turd
If you live in. a unit or apartment and are going to potty inside this is also an easy transition for the puppy to your home
During their training we place flooring surfaces
usually found in the home, pieces of carpet, tiling and timber floorboard
By adding these surfaces we are conditioning our puppies as “non-potty” areas, helping to make potty training much easier for you and your puppy when you take them home
We coach our puppies using the command "be clean" when toileting which should be continued when you take home your puppy with you
It’s important to note that NO puppy can be fully potty trained by 8 to 10 weeks of age
While our puppies are trained to potty reliably in the right place in our home environment, they need to learn the “lay of the land” at your home before they even understand where the toilet is, and how to get to it
You will need to be vigilant to avoid accidents, and ensure you help your puppy get to the toilet area regularly through the day
We provide full advice and recommend toileting them every hour from weeks 10 - 16
New puppy owners MUST be aware that work will be required of you to ensure success
The fewer mistakes you let your puppy make at this stage, the easier the whole process will be throughout their lifespan
The most obvious benefit of owning a potty trained Golden Retriever and Mini Dachshund puppy is that it makes it much easier for you to complete their potty training
The chance of messy accidents is greatly reduced as the puppy is conditioned from an early
Potty training can be a challenging task, and with a puppy that has been reared to potty in the appropriate places, you will have less stress and enjoy more of the fun parts of pet ownership
Should you buy your next puppy from a breeder who does not put in this important early stages effort, the puppy can become conditioned to no longer discriminate between potty and non-potty surfaces
This can in-still a lifetime of potty errors and can continue for their lifetime, some breeders will rear puppies on newspaper or blankets and have their bed, feed, water and potty areas all mixed together.
This is not good professional practice and incorrectly serves to their natural instinct to potty away from their den
We instead work with this natural instinct, reinforcing it and making the job of potty training infinitely easier, and successful for their lifetime
Puppies that are not started correctly will be more difficult to potty train for the rest of their lives
Potty training failure is a major cause of dissatisfaction by dog owners, if not done correctly early such behaviour can last for years
It is also important your puppy can socially interact and be taken on outings, without the stress of the owner worrying if the puppy may 'pee' on your best friends lounge
We have Golden Retriever and Miniature Dachshund potty trained puppies regularly through the year here at our Queensland Registered Ethical Dog Breeding facility
Our puppies are raised in a loving and nurturing environment and have been socialised with people and other cats and dogs
All of our puppies not only have had their potty training off to a good start, but also come with a LIFETIME genetic health guarantee, up-to-date vaccinations and worming
They have had their first groom including clipping, bathing and toenail's clipped, conditioning them to the grooming process
We temperament test our puppies and match them with their best fit homes so you get a puppy whose behaviour is compatible with your family
We also offer ongoing support and advice for the life of your dog, along with a House Training guide in conjunction with Dr Ian Dunbar's
