About the parents
The Dachshund have three coat varieties, our mum ‘BELLA’, is the smooth, short hair variety, with fur that has a feeling of velvet, her features are purely symmetrical
She has an adorable personality and is only 65cm in length
Dad 'ARLO' is a stud and also a Miniature Dachshund
Both parents have Dapple in their heritage, Dapple is a pattern of irregular patches or splotches of light pigment overlaying a darker colour
On purchase you will receive a full DNA certificate for both parents to confirm the purebred
About the breed
The Mini Dachshund is cute and lively and a small, neat size breed, making them an ideal house dog
The breed will adapt to any living situation and are ideal for apartment living with young children and the elderly
Dachshunds are intelligent, extremely sociable dogs, loving and extremely loyal to their families, they are happiest having cuddles on the couch
Low in maintenance, they shed, but not excessively. ‘Smooths’ can be wiped with a damp cloth between baths to keep them clean
First known as the Teckel in his home country of Germany, the Dachshund has been around in one form or another for at least 500 years.
The Dachshund’s distinctive long, low shape awarded them the nickname 'sausage dog' and is due to being purpose-bred to tear down burrows after rabbits in its country of origin
In the 1800s, Dachshunds started being bred more as pets in Great Britain. They were favourites in royal courts all over Europe, including that of Queen Victoria, who was especially fond of the breed
Owning a dog is a commitment as the life span of the Dachshund is 12-16 years, it is essential to keep the breed in a healthy weight range of 4 - 6 kgs and jumping is to be avoided to avoid back problems
