At the tender age of thirteen, Madi started her business ambitions and bred Ragdoll cats, she owns three Ragdoll's Star, Mars and Ginger and two girls had two litters of kittens each, not wanting to over-breed her beloved cats, she did the responsible thing and had them de-sexed
Madi is nineteen years old now, and when she was 17 after completing a Certificate III in Business and Year 12 at Maroochydore State High School, she did a Dog Grooming Diploma and opened Madi’s Paws the Professional Pet Groomer
The business was such a success, she quickly realised she needed to expanded and started training other young people how to dog groom, offering customers half price dog grooms and trainee's the opportunity to have a personal mentor during their groom and double the time to complete ~ which was a win, win for everyone!
Madi has two breeding dogs a Mini - Dachshund Bella and a Golden Retriever Luna, both purebred which she breeds, check our Pets for Sale
This inspiring young lady has now passed the training baton to Meg her senior groomer and is now focusing on other opportunities
Youth today has a bad reputation, and we don't want to tar all youth with the same brush, there are many amazing young people in our community
Here at Madi's Paws we are trying to change the reputation of young people through our business
Our staff are all studying at school or University and work on a casual basis to fit-in with their other schedules
Although they are young team, they have a lot of experience and each staff member has completed at least 100 grooms
If you have no experience, thats ok! we support young people and ask you do 20 x grooms on a volunteer basis, we train on Saturdays where you will groom 2 dogs (3 hours each)
A Senior Groomer will be by your side to teach you everything you need to know
Once we do employ you, your pay rate depends on your age and is this award rate:-

Perform all grooming-related duties necessary to ensure that pets are neat, clean, and look their best including bathing animals of various sizes and temperaments, trimming, clipping, or shaving coat / fur, and removing matted hair
· Comply with pet owners' instructions as well as accommodate any special requests, and treat all animals with love and care
· De-matting and detangling hair as required
· Bathing, conditioning, and drying pets
· Trimming pets’ nails, brushing their teeth, and cleaning their ears
· Grooming and styling pets according to pet owners’ instructions or breed recommendations
· Ensuring that all pets are safe during the grooming process
· Routinely cleaning work areas
· Ensure that grooming tools and equipment are clean and in good working condition
· We may also assign you other duties, where reasonable for your position, training and experience

The position
If you have no experience, thats ok! we support young people and ask you do 20 x grooms on a volunteer basis, we train on Saturdays or Sundays, where you will groom 2 dogs (3 hours each) and volunteer between 8:30 and 3pm. This takes 2- 3 months.
You are also required to complete the first two assessments from the Dog Grooming Diploma:-
Assessment 1 - Healthy and Safety
Assessment 2 - Grooming Equipment
Assessment 3 - Breed Standards
Assessment 4 - Business Development
You will then be taken on, as a casual. The Pay Award is MA000104
*** You can then complete Assessment 3 & 4, and be awarded a Dog grooming Diploma, this Diploma is fully funded by Madi's Paws ***
